Design Engineer - Mechanical (Piping Design Engineering)

 

We are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading player in the nuclear energy sector, for multiple Design Engineer positions specializing in Mechanical (Piping) Design Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth organization involved in key nuclear projects, including CANDU refurbishment initiatives.

About the Role:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in piping, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and implementation of engineering solutions for nuclear power plant operations. You will be responsible for preparing design specifications, conducting engineering analyses, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support major projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Prepare and assist in the execution of design projects using standard engineering methodologies.

Conduct technical analyses on equipment, piping systems, and processes to ensure compliance with design specifications.

Develop and review engineering specifications, design reports, and technical procedures.

Perform piping stress analysis using industry-standard software.

Participate in site visits to gather data, review project progress, and collaborate with contractors and stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with nuclear and non-nuclear piping design codes and standards.

Provide technical guidance and contribute to field change implementation processes.

Assist in the registration process of piping systems and components in Ontario and Romania.

Author and review technical documents, including reports, specifications, and calculations.

Support project teams in troubleshooting equipment and conducting research for design enhancements.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 5 years in CANDU Nuclear Power Plant projects.

Direct involvement in a CANDU refurbishment project is a strong advantage.

Proficiency in piping design, including stress analysis and pipe support design.

Knowledge of nuclear industry codes and standards related to piping design.

Experience in project management is beneficial.

Professional Engineer designation (PEO) or eligibility for PEO status is preferred.

Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent attention to detail.

Experience in multidisciplinary team collaboration.

Romanian language proficiency is an asset but not required.
