Director of Sales, Windenergy

Our client is a leading Electronic Engineering provider of service solutions to the power conversion industry. Its comprehensive range of services include repair and refurbishment, training, technical support and parts management. Our client is committed to the achievement of a carbon neutral planet – solutions today extend the life and increase productivity of customers assets that generate, store and distribute green electricity.

In line with a global drive towards electrification of Energy systems our client is seeing continued demand and appetite for their services.  This has opened a new position for a Director of Sales. The successful candidate will be a key member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team with a focus on driving business growth and strategy.

Location:           Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Denmark, Sweden (fully remote)


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with the company's business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to set sales targets, budgets and ensure the achievement of revenue goals.
  • Stay ahead of market changes, competitor activity, and emerging/accessible technologies, refining commercial strategy where applicable.
  • Set and manage team KPIs, e.g. pipeline, forecasts v budget, and deliver regular updates to the CEO and leadership team.

Business Development:

  • Identify new market opportunities, take personal ownership of the sales cycle and drive the expansion of the customer base across Europe and beyond.
  • Grow engagement with key industry stakeholders, partners and cultivate existing client relationships.
  • Understand customer pain points and drive innovative ideas and solutions.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the sales team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor account performance, conduct regular activity reviews, and implement actions with the team as needed.
  • Identify smart tools and methodologies through analytics and trends which help drive efficiencies and sustainable growth.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Develop and implement customer retention strategies to ensure long-term client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Address customer issues and concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team and develop campaigns keeping existing and new clients abreast with company and industry developments.

Sales Operations:

  • Oversee the development of sales presentations, proposals, contracts, and negotiations.
  • Ensure CRM portal is concise, maintained and reflects key customer engagement/ milestones in the sales cycle.
  • Grow and take ownership of your own sales pipeline while managing the overall sales budget.
  • Develop technical/product knowledge around the key technologies and applications in the renewable energy space.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to ensure the sales team is equipped with the latest product knowledge.

About You:

  • At least 5-10 years’ experience in a senior commercial role, preferably in a B2B technical environment.
  • MBA or similar qualification with a technical first degree, e.g. Electronics, would be an advantage.
  • Proven success in driving consistent revenue growth and building successful sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of the renewables market with experience in electronics or electrical sectors desirable.
  • A financial acumen with significant experience negotiating large commercial contracts in a B2B environment.
  • Proficient in the use of good questioning and listening techniques.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a consultative approach to solving commercial problems and building business.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • An ability to think strategically and long term.
  • Competent and comfortable in a remote working environment.
  • Fluency in English with other European language(s) being an advantage.
