SENIOR POWER SYSTEM ENGINEER

Currently we're looking for a Senior Power System Engineer to join this team & to support the project development from the project inception through to energisation. A. This is a full-time role which is remote & on-site as required.​

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage grid connections activities of grid scale battery storage system (BESS) including grid applications, review/evaluation of grid offer and connection options and the supervision of the connection work.

  • Carry out initial BESS system design, substation design and feasibility studies.

  • Carry out grid compliance studies including transformer inrush and fault level studies to provide technical support for the procurement of BESS and BoP equipment

  • Provide technical support for EPC tendering

  • Identify the project specific constraints, specify technical requirements and collaborate with the contractors to optimise the system design and engineering solutions.

  • Work closely with Project Manager to monitor project development process and review technical deliveries throughout the design, construction and commissioning.

  • Supervision of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and/or Site Acceptance Test (SAT)

  • Attend technical meetings with key stakeholders (EPC, NG/DNO, Technical Due Diligence, ...).

  • Technical assessment of new BESS projects in the development portfolio

SKILL & COMPETENCIES

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven knowledge of power system studies, UK Grid Code and connection compliance requirements, e.g. G99, P28, G5, …

  • Experience with design software DIgSILENT or ETAP

  • Ability of keeping up-to-date with new products / technology and technology advancements in the industry

  • Commercial awareness of system design and engineering solutions

  • Excellent communication skills and collaboration abilities

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery, inverter, BESS integration including control, protection, safety design and regulation requirements

  • Experience of working with DNOs and National Grid

  • Experience with grid application process

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor or Master degree in engineering (with a specialism in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent)

  • 3~5 years design experience with utility HV and EHV Transmission and Distribution network connection
