The primary role of the Health and Safety Manager is to design, implement, and manage the company's health and safety programs, ensuring a safe work environment and full compliance with regulatory requirements. The main goal is to reduce workplace hazards, prevent accidents, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Policy Development and Implementation
- Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and
- procedures.
- Drawing up operational procedures and writing internal health and safety policies/strategies.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve EHS procedures and policies.
- Management and control of the Quality Management System as per ISO9001, Environmental
- Management System as per ISO14001 and the Occupational Health and Safety Management
- System as per ISO15001 accreditations

- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensuring strong risk assessment processes are in place.
- Ensures compliance with safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Monitoring and risk management, developing and maintaining assessments, statements, policies,
- procedures, accreditations, audit schedules, registers
- Maintain and assess sub-contractor insurance, safety statements, and method statements.
- Inspecting sites to ensure that health and safety measures are met and maintained.
- Reviews accident and incident reports.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Determining ways of reducing risks.
- Support corporate EHS activities and advise executive leadership team on changes in the industry.
- Facilitate regulatory visits by internal and external entities, as required.
- Training and Awareness
- Responsible for workplace health and safety training, toolbox talks meetings and initiatives with
- regular safety audits throughout the company, attending client safety audits and meetings.
- Complete new employee company Health, Safety, Environment and Quality inductions, and
- maintain employee training and records.
- Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards and relevant health and safety
- requirements.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Emergency and Incident Management
- Manage the Accident investigation process. Control of accident / incident / near miss register
- Manage emergency response incidents.
- Drive a Culture of EHS throughout the business to reduce incidents.
- People Leadership and Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team, ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that enhances productivity and morale.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to review performance, set goals, and
- provide developmental feedback.
- Address any issues related to performance or employee relations promptly and effectively.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection process by identifying and securing top talent for the team.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess team effectiveness and make
- data-driven decisions
- General Responsibilities
- Responsible for the delivery of Construction Health and Safety Plans on a per-project basis
- Maintain registers and regular testing/certification of relevant PPE as required
- Ensures completion of required recordkeeping and reporting.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation
- Working to KPI’s
- Assist in any other duties which may encompass the role
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent level qualification in Health and Safety
- Experience in Health & Safety and Occupational Health
- Experience in Construction is an essential requirement for this role.
- Experience in managing a team across various disciplines
- Ability to manage an effective team and work proactively engage company stakeholders
- Knowledge of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) principles
- Experience in safety training and creating safety programs
- IOSH certification or equivalent
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems is desirable
- 5 Years’ Experience in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Services
