Overview of the Role:


Due to continued success and growth across the Waste division, our client is looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join the company as a Health and Safety Advisor.

The successful candidate will work on a wide scope of projects and manage all aspects of Health and Safety on their Fermoy site as well as supporting the off-site teams at our customer sites.
A key aspect of this role is the development and promotion of the Health and Safety Standards across all our client’s waste activities.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • As part of this role, you will work with and provide positive development to the
    onsite and offsite teams to maintain the minimum health and safety requirements.

  • Act as a point of contact for the Health and Safety Authority for ’s facility at Fermoy.

  • Linking with Contract Managers and representing the company to its customers on
    matters Health and Safety related.

  • Management of internal Health and Safety Audits - Fermoy and activities at clients’
    sites.

  • Support the Technical Manager in organising and managing contractors for site
    maintenance / improvements works.

  • Submit regulatory reports.

  • Collaborating with operations teams in the development, sign off and evolution of
    RAMS.

  • Development of COSHH assessments.

  • Scope, assess and support the implementation of Health and Safety training toolkit
    and modules.

  • Assist or carry out accident investigation reports in a timely manner.

  • Investigate and support the operations team with the incident / accidents reports on
    the Health and Safety Management System.

  • Provide technical support to the customer and the on-site team to ensure
    compliance with both regulations and the customer’s requirements.

  • Providing administrative support to waste bids when required.

  • Attend Fermoy Operations and customer reviews meetings as required, leading the Health and Safety aspects.

  • Manage the implementation and development of the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System requirements.

  • Monitor compliance with applicable H&S legislation and take corrective action where required to ensure a compliant and safe workplace.

  • Collaborate with the Risk & Assurance Team to ensure workplace projects and
    operations are in line with the Minimum Requirements.

  • Attend Ireland Risk and Assurance meetings / briefings.

Required for the role:

  • NFQ Level 7 qualification in Health & Safety, Engineering or Science related
    discipline, or possess significant relevant experience.

  • Clean Driving Licence (Essential)

  • Having worked as part of a team

  • Involvement in H & S initiatives and their role out

  • Experience of working with the regulatory authority

  • Proven ongoing personal development in the area of H&S

  • Experience of Health and Safety Management system requirements

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills (Essential)

  • Creative Thinking to help generate solutions (Essential)

  • Strong IT Skills (Essential)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team (Essential)

  • Positive and flexible approach towards change (Essential)

  • Can build a rapport with colleagues to promote a positive H&S culture (Essential)

  • 5+ years’ experience in an industrial H&S role with demonstrable and transferable
    skills (Desirable)

  • Experience in Problem Solving Techniques (Desirable)
