Overview of the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety conscious individual to manage our client’s utilities hard services contract for one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies based in Co. Cork. The Site Manager will be responsible for commercial and technical management of the contract at the client site, develop key client relationships and mutually develop and lead a high-performance team delivering world-class hard facilities services. The role requires a skilled senior manager with pharma engineering experience, compliance and safety focused.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Management of site team and co-ordination of activities within scope.

  • Execution of maintenance and calibration programme for equipment in scope.

  • Lead and direct engineering technical support team to ensure equipment optimisation, reliability, and availability.

  • Direction of operations team across key environmental systems, e.g., wastewater treatment.

  • Optimisation of all activities within scope.

  • Management of sub-contractor activities on site.

  • Develop long-term strategic direction in liaison with client and implement as appropriate.

  • Identification and filling of roles on team when/if required.

  • Reporting of key KPI’s on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

  • Ensure all activities on site are carried out in a safe manner, in compliance with site, local and national rules, regulations, guidelines and site procedures; the site is a Tier 1 Seveso site, safety is paramount.

  • All safety and environmental excursions are tracked, monitored, and reported to the appropriate department/body and investigated as appropriate, as per site procedures and statutory requirements.

  • GMP requirements and compliance are maintained as per site procedures; any deviations are reported and investigated as required.

  • Training curriculum of each team member is maintained at the required level, and any new/updated training is implemented to relevant personnel.

  • Commercial responsibility for contract. Cost control, budgetary management and forecasting, internal reporting.

  • Commercial management of subcontractors identified for support and specialist services.

  • Ensure all team members are technically qualified for their respective roles.

  • Identify and implement appropriate training programs to improve skill sets and develop individual career paths.

Required skills for this role:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent, preferably in mechanical/building services, with four to five years post graduate experience, or

  • Trade qualification (National Craft Cert, City & Guilds or Equivalent), preferably mechanical/building services, with ten years plus post apprenticeship experience, with supervisory/line management experience, or

  • Marine qualification, with 5 years’ plus experience at sea.

  • Supervisory/management experience in an industrial utilities’ environment.

  • Demonstrable Health & Safety experience, particularly in a Seveso or similar type environment.

  • Operating within a regulated environment.

  • Excellent PC Skills & ability to develop and deliver presentations at both client and internal levels.

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting experience of industrial utilities.

  • Self-motivation, ability to work alone and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation in a clear, concise and respectful manner.

  • Computer Skills (Excel, Word etc).

  • Knowledge of CMMS systems (SAP).

  • Six Sigma qualification.

  • Supervisory/management qualification.

  • Design and/or modification of industrial utilities.

  • Supervisory/management experience in a pharmaceutical utilities’ environment.

  • Experience in energy management role with ability to demonstrate a clear history of savings achieved.

  • Demonstrate an ability to motivate and drive a team in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Continuous improvement techniques 5S/Kaizen/6 sigma/ FMEA.
