Electrical Design Engineer
Anderson McQue (Part of MPA Group) is recruiting for our client who is a world leader in providing customised solutions in the Energy, Waste-Water Treatment and Waste sectors. Overview of the Role:
The Electrical Design Lead will be responsible for electrical design outputs to support ongoing contracts and coordinating activities across the team of electrical design engineers. This position provides the opportunity to work on exciting new projects, producing detailed designs for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants across Ireland as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering and project delivery team. An important aspect will be focusing on delivering work efficiently and effectively, while maintaining and developing electrical design standards within the company.
The role will require strong technical skills and communication and interaction with managers, engineers, internal and external team members, clients and suppliers.
Duties of the Electrical Design Team include
- Development of new electrical designs and concepts
- Evaluation of the client specifications
- Preparation of Electrical Technical Designs & Submissions
- Design of electrical distribution, general services, lighting, fire and intruder alarms, motor control panels and containment systems
- Design of electrical instrumentation
- Assist with development of system architecture
- Prepare Cable, IO & Power schedules
- Evaluation and selection of sub-contractors and suppliers
- Specify equipment for procurement in conjunction with purchasing department
- Liaise with other departments i.e. design, contracts, control & automation etc. as required
- Liaise with the client as required
- Understanding and ability to update, single line diagrams, panel schematics and wiring diagrams
- Preparation of SAT/FAT documentation
- Preparation of Control Philosophies/FDS
- Manage project documentation according to the requirements of the Project Quality Plan
- Working to IS, EN, BS & IEC standards
- Travel to site occasionally as required to support site activities
Skills & Attributes for the Role:
- Liaise with the client as required
- Understanding and ability to update, single line diagrams, panel schematics and wiring diagrams

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
- Accredited NFQ Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- 7+ years in Similar Role
